Annual Conference
Save the Date! October 22-24, 2008
“Fast Forward >> Redefining Leadership and Learning”
Old School? New School? Somewhere in between? Many schools are finding it challenging to make the big transition from the way we’ve traditionally been set up to teach – to what and how kids need to learn for the world they’ll be inheriting. This year’s conference will provide you with strategies and tools for fast forwarding your school’s approach to the myriad of new advances and requirements for 21st century learning.
Be sure to clear your calendars for this year’s event at the Grand Hyatt – October 22-24, 2008!
Keynote Speakers
Rob Evans
“Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with the Crisis in Childrearing”
Educators everywhere report that students are harder to reach and teach, their developmental profiles more uneven, their attention and motivation harder to sustain, their language and behavior more provocative. And they complain that parents are more anxious about their children’s success, yet less available to support and guide them, and more demanding and critical of the school, more inclined to see themselves as entitled consumers. Rob Evans will outline these dilemmas and their implications for stewardship, calling for a stronger assertion of school values and a redefinition of the home-school partnership.
Alan November
“Leadership: Transition to a New Culture of Teaching and Learning”
November’s presentations are thought-provoking, creative, and motivating. He has an uncanny ability to tap into the needs and energy of his audiences. He makes people think, question, and also important, laugh.. For Alan, it’s not the technology itself that it is important; it’s the way we use it. His ideas about global communication, collaboration, assessment, and critical thinking have inspired schools, governments and corporations around the world to rethink and redefine their approach to education and technology.

Can I sign up only for the Pre- or Post-Conference Workshops?
Due to space limitations, first priority for attendance at Pre- and Post-conference workshops goes to those attending the full conference. If you cannot attend the conference, but would like to attend one of the workshops, you may contact Christine Phelan at cphelan@erbtest.org to be put on a waitlist. Please note, however, that there is not a guarantee that space will be available. A refundable deposit of 50% of the cost of the workshop will be required when you are put on the waitlist. You will be notified approximately two weeks before the conference about availability.
All conference payment is due at registration. Our online registration allows you to pay by credit card (except for AMEX), check, and P.O. In the event that you must cancel your registration for any reason prior to October 8th, 2008, your payment will be refunded, minus a $75 cancellation fee. However, after October 8th, 2008, no refunds will be available, as ERB incurs registration expenses that cannot be recouped. You may also elect to transfer your registration to a colleague rather than cancel. Contact Christine Phelan to transfer a registration at cphelan@erbtest.org.
